Martha's Vineyard - August 5, 2026

 RIDE REPORT

Wednesday, 5 August 2026, Martha's Vineyard

Ride Leader:  Tom Allen

40 miles, 10:00 am start from Oak Bluffs, MA

Riders (4):  Tom, David Klingsberg, David Goldberg, and Renée Rees.

Three people arrived at Oak Bluffs on two different ferries to join me on a tour around the Vineyard.  After some delay to get everyone together, we pedaled out of the crowded town and proceeded along the scenic East Chop roadway.  Then additional delay at an open draw bridge.  After getting through Vineyard Haven (the next town over from Oak Bluffs), we were finally under way.

Weather was perfect:  sunny and not too hot or humid.  We visited the quaint fishing village of Menemsha and admired its beach.  After a lunch stop in West Tisbury, we got off a busy road in favor of the Correllus State Forest bike path.  While free of traffic, the path had its share of pavement glitches which seemed to knock Renée's rear wheel askew and stopped her until adjustment could be made.

We ended with ice cream upon our return to the ferry landings in Oak Bluffs.

I'm grateful to the folks who made the effort to get to the island to join me on this lovely day.
